Ernesto in Chelsea I actually didn’t imagine that I might title my blog post on NY this, because as I was walking the city, I was definitely mesmerized, but also told myself, “but I wouldn’t want to live here.” Now, I know it’s not polite to criticize another person’s city on one’s blog, so I’m not going to do that. I just noticed the little things that make New York a harder place to live. The men hauling their laundry several blocks, presumably because they don’t have their own washer/dryer. In other words, no access to a Kenmore HE3, the lifeblood of modern America. Then there were the people lugging their shopping carts down to Whole Foods to stock up (I did like the neat queueing system they had there, though. You wait in one of three lines and then this helpful voice tells you which checkstand to go to. Very civilized). All of that said, when I left, I sort of missed the place. There is something energetic about being somewhere where everything isn’t easy.

When I arrived, Ernesto also arrived with me. He was mild to begin with, and then got a little angry, and then *poof* he was gone. It’s the best tropical depression I’ve ever experienced. If I were to call any of the photos below the signature picture, I would say it was “Two men gazing at Ground Zero.” It’s the first one in the series below. There was something real and interesting about the diversity of people who were gathered to look at what happened. They were from all over the world and equally melancholic. You can feel the anger that caused this to happen, and also to understand that this is not representative of human kind by looking at the posted photographs and the others sharing the experience.

That’s all.
