More and more it seems, the goal is to see how quickly the reality distortioin field around Apple products can be torn down. The problem is, it never can be. The refractory period is infinite.
When you just “feel good” about buying a product, it doesn’t matter what it does or how good it is. Isn’t that BMW’s business model?

I know, but…does anyone actually USE Microsoft consumer Mac software anymore?
Report: Microsoft scaling back Mac Business Unit, plans to exit consumer Mac software
Here’s the thing…Microsoft is sort of done in this space, and I don’t mean they are done because they should be done or they are a bad company or make bad products. I mean, they seem like they are emotionally done. And I would sort of be too - how many left-handed compliments can you get from Steve Jobs and still feel good about yourself? I’m sure all those smart people are pretty confident so that’s not an issue.
I just have to say that even though I haven’t posted a review of Microsoft Entourage since it was updated, that it is a really terrific piece of software. It has a few slowdown things going on. But, on balance, it is better than Outlook as an e-mail client in my opinion. And it’s fun to use. The MacBU really does produce great products, and that says something (good) about Microsoft for as long as they want to keep them around. Taking the high road and making money while doing it. That’s what America is all about.
