By the way, rumor has it that there may be an iPod/XM Radio type device?
Quote: “they’re going to keep patching Sp2 for years to come.”
This time they discovered that a hidden application is causing computers to crash.
Creepy.

Unfortunately, 2 days experience has shown that there IS still a problem with this software. The Microsoft database daemon hogs an incredible amount of CPU cycles when Microsoft Word is opened after Microsoft Entourage. Very annoying in an otherwise great piece of software.
Oh well, there is always Apple Mail 2.0, coming with Tiger.
Microsoft released the first the first service pack for Office 2004. And not a moment too soon. I don’t know about other Mac users, but I was having problems with Word 2004 massively spinning up the CPU with the Microsoft Database Daemon (Mac users will know about this) causing major slowdowns when Word is open at the same time Entourage is. Very annoying when you have a lightening fast processor (or somewhat lightening fast).
So far, this appears to be fixed and the database daemon is not hogginig the cpu like it was before. This is the price we pay for dependency on one company’s products, not that there is anything wrong with Microsoft. Otherwise, Office 2004 is pretty nifty. Let’s see what Apple Mail 2.0 has in store - maybe I’ll end up switching back, if they add robust exchange integration.
It’s been a dream fulfilled on the Mac side - the ability to run Windows XP. Now there’s a product that purports to allow PC users to run Mac by emulating the G4 processor. Can it be? Post your comments about your experiences!
It’s hard to believe, that in 2004, the reason that a company wants to migrate away from Windows is not because of lack of innovation, but fear of security issues. I never would have predicted it.
