The wonderful team over at Champagne Buffet alerted the Just-Ted organization to a new innovation in cell hpone technology: 2007 March 26 « Champagne Buffet.

The team here took a look and thought, “hmmm…could this be a bridge to an iPhone?”

In conclusion the decision is to join the rest of America in not purchasing any cell phone products until the iPhone is released.

This is better than “Loose Change” - a whodunit of iPhone features not described during the keynote. If we already bought music via iTunes, why do we have to repurchase it as a ringtone?

Motorola’s European marketing director Simon Thompson is bored of the iPhone question.

I don’t know if there’s that much wrong with this assessment. Maybe there’s a little bit wrong with it. But I’m a bit concerned about the potential for another G4 cube thing. Not that it’s my job to worry about it or anything.

I mean, I am of course going to buy this, but am I really going to take my phone in to the gym with me? Not really. I suppose I’ll buy a new iPod too, and this is going to be my “walk on the way to work iPod.” I guess an iPod in every device isn’t such a bad idea, but it seems like this is trying to do too much. We’ll see. In the meantime, it keeps me from buying a new cell phone, which is something I tend to look to do every year….

MacDailyNews | Computerworld’s Haskin: Apple seems to be repeating Newton mistakes with iPhone

Not to be redundant with the whole world, but, this is it. Okay, but I would like to have a hard drive version and what about battery life? Never mind, it’s made by Apple, Inc. So I will buy it.

Bluetooth watch I may have scooped Champagne Buffet on this one, but it is sort of in the realm of new cell phone, even though it is not a new cell phone. It’s a watch that alerts you to the CallerID of the person/thing who is calling you, and allows you to answer or reject the call. Kind of neat. Except that it is only compatible with Sony Ericsson or Symbian OS phones (and who buys either of those anymore).

I can’t wait to see what the Apple iPhone will have in store.

Check out this collection of cell phones. We’ll all be using one within 6 months.

The thing about cell phones is that you just have to buy them on impulse. There can’t be waiting. Not at the pace that cell phone providers go through the process of certifying them. In an ideal world, I will just wait for the Apple iPhone, but if I bought a cell phone today, and the iPhone came out tomorrow, I would buy that too, because it’s there.

So in the meantime, I just replaced my trusty Siemens S66 with the Samsung SGH-D807 (Phonescoop info on the Samsung SGH-D807).

So far, so good. It has a real 1.3 megapixel camera, which should make pictures a little more clear than the Siemens (which also had a 1.3 megapixel camera, but I think the software inside made things look not so good). It’s a slider, which I am getting used to, and works just fine. It’s easy to lock and unlock the phone using the hardware. It has EDGE, so it’s faster on the upload and download, and it works much better on bluetooth than the Siemens did.

Ok, so RSS is like 2 years too late to mobile telephony. The lateness is probably because people couldn’t find a way to charge extra for it. But $10 extra a month on top of data? Apple, just make the iPhone already…I like the Nokia implementation better than the Sony one. Just because I hope it uses WebKit :).
