Microsoft released the first the first service pack for Office 2004. And not a moment too soon. I don’t know about other Mac users, but I was having problems with Word 2004 massively spinning up the CPU with the Microsoft Database Daemon (Mac users will know about this) causing major slowdowns when Word is open at the same time Entourage is. Very annoying when you have a lightening fast processor (or somewhat lightening fast).
So far, this appears to be fixed and the database daemon is not hogginig the cpu like it was before. This is the price we pay for dependency on one company’s products, not that there is anything wrong with Microsoft. Otherwise, Office 2004 is pretty nifty. Let’s see what Apple Mail 2.0 has in store - maybe I’ll end up switching back, if they add robust exchange integration.
