Who's the bride / groom? So, the expected happened. The Washington State Supreme Court denied equality in marriage to same-sex couples. I wasn’t surprised, and I wasn’t hopeful, and I have been thinking about my reaction. It’s not a significant one. Why? Because I realize that society is not ready to accept sexual minorities as equal. This is a proxy for that. I see it every day wherever I go. There’s a surface acceptance, but there is not understanding. That’s going to change one day. It’s one of the reasons that I keep a blog up. I will help it along.

It was a nice reminder to see this show on Logo-TV recently: (Advocate Newsmagazine: “Welcome to the Neighborhood”). In it, a controversial reality show that was never aired by ABC was discussed. The story told of how misunderstanding and intolerance turned into love and acceptance in the most unlikely circumstance. And that’s going to happen again, and again, and again, because we cannot change the fact that we’re all human beings and have compassion for each other.

I have a feeling I’ll be around on the day when we are truly equal. I look forward to it.

And by the way, how cool is it that we have one of the best cable channels out there, all to ourselves. Take that, ESPN!
