Over at Daniel Brown’s TV Blog, the discussion is about Grey’s Anatomy.
I have a small bit of interest in this topic for the reason that I partially lived it….and I live in Seattle.
First of all, Patrick Dempsey
has aged quite well. Go Patrick!
Second of all, the show takes place in Seattle, where apparently there is a hospital helipad on top of the Fisher Center right by the Space Needle. Fun!
Third of all, I have mixed emotions about the content. Is it really cool that they show a scene where a surgeon begins to allow a patient to bleed to death in order to humiliate a resident? Where the highest honor is for an intern to be able to cut someone open?
Is the fiction based on fact? And do we celebrate the sort of treatment of humans that takes place in modern hospitals (not just the physicians, but the patients) ?
I don’t know….this show is no St. Elsewhere but maybe it is worth a few more shows to see where they are going.
